OVERSCAIG OVINES / WILD WEST WOOLLESS / TLC KATAHDINS
North America
Our Home Flock is based in Alberta, Canada. We have a joint business relationship with Wild West Woolless and TLC Katahdins. Our select group of rams and ewes are an integral part of the larger flock. The flock is maintained at the highest possible health status. Our goal is to produce a world class pool of diverse Katahdin genetics through live animals, semen and embryos.
South America
In 2007 we initiated a small flock of Katahdins in Chile. Canadian embryos were implanted in May and the resulting lambs were born in Patagonia in October. This nucleus flock currently sits at 12 ewes with lambs at foot and 10 rams. We are planning to introduce more new genetics (through semen and embryos) in March, 2010.
Britain
We established our first Katahdins in Britain in 2008. Our Canadian embryos were implanted on a recipient farm in October of 2007, and In February 2008 we had ~ 45 lambs on the ground. The lack of genetic diversity and the EU harmonization of import protocol prevented us from expanding before this fall. The flock of yearlings is now settled in Scotland with Charley Walker (a partner in the flock) of Barnsider Farm. We sent a new ram in September /09 to breed to the yearling ewes; we look forward to lambs in April-May, 2010.
